The successful conclusion of the EdHat International Research Conference in Law 2023, held on 28 June 2023 at the Sri Lanka Foundation in Colombo, Sri Lanka, brought together legal experts, scholars, practitioners, and enthusiasts from around the world. With the theme "Knowledge of Law for Everyone," the conference aimed to promote accessibility and understanding of various fields of law. Featuring 46 accepted papers across diverse tracks and esteemed keynote speakers, the event provided a platform for insightful discussions and the exchange of cutting-edge legal research. The conference was chaired by Senior Professor (Dr.) Rohana P Mahaliyanaarachchi, an esteemed legal scholar and academic, and hosted by IDM Nations Campus International, Sri Lanka, under the leadership of Chairman Dr. Janagan Vinayagamoorthy.
The conference was honoured to have His Excellency Tareq Mohomad Ariful Islam, the High Commissioner of Bangladesh to Sri Lanka, as the Chief Guest, highlighting the international significance and collaborative nature of the conference. Distinguished guests of honour included Orlando Edwards, the Country Director of the British Council in Sri Lanka and Alison Maton, Associate Professor and Head of Partnerships in Business and Law at Buckinghamshire New University, UK. Their valuable insights and contributions enriched the conference proceedings. Dr. Janagan Vinayagamoorthy, Director International at EdHat International, UK, and Mr. Alan Clarke, Chief Academic Affairs at EdHat International, UK, played instrumental roles in organising the event and ensuring its success.
"This conference served as a catalyst for increasing legal knowledge and understanding." We created a collaborative and shared learning environment by bringing together professionals from several legal areas. In his welcoming address, Dr. Janagan Vinayagamoorthy stated, "The conference aimed to make the law accessible to everyone, promoting justice and societal well-being." Professor Wasantha Seneviratne, Chair Professor of the Department of Public & International Law and Director of the Centre of Studies on Human Rights (CSHR) at the University of Colombo, Sri Lanka, provided an inspirational keynote talk that set the tone for the conference. Her understanding and detailed presentation on the value of legal knowledge attracted the audience, emphasising the need of promoting knowledge and awareness in the subject. Renowned scholars and professionals shared unique insights and research results as session keynote speakers. Professor (Dr.) Amitabh Upadhya from the United Arab Emirates, Dr. Bommuluri Bhavana Rao from India, Dr. Venkat Iyer, Barrister and Legal Academic from the United Kingdom, and Ze'ev Portner, Lecturer and Academic Employee Representative from Buckinghamshire New University in the United Kingdom, all provided thought-provoking lectures that enhanced the conference.

Aside from the exciting schedule, EdHat International is proud to have launched the publication of the inaugural volume of EDHAT Law Magazine, titled "Rights and Wrongs," at the conference. This coffee table magazine, created to make the law accessible to everybody, was released to much fanfare. The publication of "Rights and Wrongs" was a watershed moment for EdHat International and its dedication to spreading legal knowledge and awareness.
